Christian Counseling for St. Louis Residents

Not all Christians who are counselors do Christian counseling.

We deeply value the importance and impact of being a Christian. It changes everything and certainly impacts how we think about mental health and cultivating a healthy life. You are probably here because you share that in common with us. Our christian counselors will help you navigate the complexity of your situation in a way that fits with your faith.

You may be weary, confused and discouraged about how hard things are, or just fed up with the grind or relationships, work and life. Sometimes you wonder how your faith even impacts this stuff, and if all these challenges even make sense. People often tell us, “It is all just so hard”. Do you relate? We hear them, and we are here for you too.

You want to get up knowing your life and faith are meaningful. You want to stop the worrying and know you can engage in your relationships freely. There is a road to making this reality, and we can help you walk it.

What Makes This Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling can look different for different people depending on what the concerns are, and yet the core is always similar. Our highly trained counselors have professional skills that work within the gospel and the reality of faith. We may use the teachings of the Bible openly, or behind the scenes, too complement and enhance the work we do together. One of our founders specializes in Christian faith and counseling, and he is a researcher and writer on this topic. We have learned how to support your faith and allow it to support you. We bring faith and passion to helping our Christian counseling clients find success and cultivate healthy lives. All of our team members have both theological and clinical training, so you are always in good hands at the St. Louis Counseling Center.

What If We Have Different Views On Some Things?

That is a good question. We believe there are primary issues in the Christian faith, such as Jesus is the Son of God. Then, some other things (like teaching of specific Christian denominations) are secondary differences in understanding and interpretation. We are not here to question, judge, or impose any specific Christian view or teachings. We are here to support your work within your Christian faith.

What Will Christian Counseling Work Look Like?

Firstly, we will set up a time to meet and talk about your concerns, and your goals for change. We will work together to assess all that is going on in your life, understand what is happening, and determine what you might need to thrive and meet your goals. This process looks very similar to the work we do with any therapy client. The way Christian counseling differs is that faith and its worldview inform how life works well, and what thriving is. We work together to apply our faith and theological teachings in a way that shapes how we engage struggles to help you make positive changes, change your thinking, and achieve your goals, and move toward living a healthier life. Your faith and your counselor at your side supporting you every step of the way.
